WHAT TYPE OF LIFE INSURANCE IS BEST FOR YOU?

Most people are aware of two types of insurance.  Term and whole life insurance.  Each has
advantages and disadvantages.

People find the low rates of term insurance attractive when they buy the policy but don't like
the idea of the rates increasing when they renew or that it cannot be renewed forever.  Thus,
if they die after it expires, they are not covered. If they decide they no longer want the insurance
and they cancel the policy, like car insurance, they cannot recover any of the premiums paid.

Whole Life has a guaranteed premium that never increases no matter how long you keep the
policy, no matter how old you get or how your health changes.  If you reinvest the dividends,
your death benefit increases and the dividends are tax deferred. If you decide you no longer
need the insurance you can cash it in for a lump sum or receive a monthly income for life.
The cash build up in the policy can be tax deferred and can be drawn out anytime with no
penalty.  Although many people favor the whole life, they are not sure they can afford the
amount of insurance they require.

The Knights of Columbus offer a number of solutions including the Discover.  The Discover is
actually a combination of whole life & term insurance that can be blended to fit your budget.
As the paid-up life insurance from the whole life increases, the term insurance decreases
by a like amount. The term insurance benefits are converted automatically to permanent
paid-up life insurance, or you have the option of converting the term at certain times.
